The Climate Emergency Development Document (CEDPD) released by Cornwall Council in February 2023 was designed to develop our county to adapt to the changes ahead. You MUST make time to read it as Pelynt cannot ‘opt out’ of the measures being implemented.
What can we all do to make a difference? Doing nothing is NOT an option so please read the policies proposed for the Parish of Pelynt.
The Parish of Pelynt is not immune to climate change nor is it resilient enough yet to weather the climate crisis ahead. To achieve Cornwall Council’s vision of being carbon neutral by 2030 everyone in Cornwall must use less. In 2022 natural gas was the main source of power station energy (38.5%) in the UK. Unfortunately gas is very damaging for the environment and a big emitter of CO2. We import around 50% of our gas with ongoing threats to cost and supply. Wind power is next (26.8%) followed by nuclear (15.5%) and a further 6 smaller sources. Information from National Grid
